Funny Words

We love to sing songs with Samuel. We will often sing this one particular childrens church song to Samuel and he loves it. At certain parts of the song, his whole body will explode with excitement as he sing this one word with all the energy he can muster. The song goes like this...

Jesus wants me for a sunbeam,
To shine for Him each day.
In every way try to please Him,
At home, at school, at play.

A sunbeam, a sunbeam,
Jesus wants me for a sunbeam.
A sunbeam, a sunbeam,
I'll be a sunbeam for Him.

One evening while we were all sitting around the table eating enchiladas and black beans, I turned toward Samuel to encourage him to try some of his beans. All of a sudden, he began to sing his most beloved song.

A sunbean, a sunbean,
Jesus wants me for a sunbean....

He thought he was singing about Jesus and beans all along. We couldn't stop laughing long enough to correct him. I'm not sure we will. Its pretty funny. I love this kids.

Samuel also has a few other words that he will consistently say wrong no matter how much we correct him. For one, cookies are so yummy to eat. But, our child has never had a cookie before. He has only ever eaten KEE-COES.

My sister is the culprit of another funny word Samuel says. When we tell Samuel we are going to Grandma and Grandpa Sypher's house he will always say, DEEDLEE! This, my friends, is my little sister Kimberlee's name.

I love the cute little twists that Samuel places on words as he learns to speak. It makes motherhood so entertaining. And, who knows, maybe beans do have a special place in Jesus heart.
